This intermediate course is intended primarily for those who have successfully completed the Basic Course or are keen to open themselves up to new media and more complex ways of interpreting their subject matter. The five sessions held in the gallery, will concentrate on extending the students awareness of the aesthetic subtleties both within the subject matter and their own means of expression.
Different drawing media such as pen, charcoal and biro will be employed along with a discussion about their particular strengths and weaknesses. Following the pattern of the Basic Course each subject is taught as a visual tool , intended to complement and develop rather than change any individual style, and it is hoped will give the student the confidence to develop in any artistic direction that they may choose. As with the Basic course some elements will change and develop due to feed-back from individual participating students.

This course is an essential requirement for participation in the Ian Hazell Mentor Program in which students learn the basic rudiments of painting in oils on canvas, on a one to one basis.

One subject per evening of the five sessions.attendance at all five sessions qualifies you for the certificate, one missed class can be taken in the next session for free.

John will take all of the classes, and the models will change weekly when possible. Students will provide their own materials, but equipment will also be provided for specific classes.
